AWESOME! Let me just check in with some of my compatriots (or whatever you would call them) And we'll get back to you.
In the mean time, try creating an AA character sprite, if you can. It can be you, Fraser, Deacon, etc.
I would really just like to see how long it would take, what it looks like when made by you, and if you, well, like taking the time to do that sort of thing.
I would rather you do it from scratch or with a template rather than editing an existing sprite, but if it helps, then you can do that. Just make sure to tell us if you did edit an existing sprite.
Thank you very much for your time, effort, and best confidence!!

Good use for my spare time to stay productive, so I created good ol' Fwashfwash. Done from scratch, borrowed the palette and size from original game data and looked in the process at the phoenix wright play through. I tried to match the style of the AA series as good as I can and wanted to be done in 1:30h, so I got lazy at the anti aliasing of the blazer. Attachments:

It looks great so far, but don't be afraid to take your time. He'll be in new positions so that his character sprites don't bleed in with Phoenix Wright's. So being careful and slow is ok, we just wanted to know what you could do and how long it took.
Also, I feel like certain shapes just need to be smoothed out like Frasers shoulders, the back/top of his head, his hat, his jaw line and the hair on his chin. Other than those (and the anti-aliasing you mentioned) I'd say that this is pretty good.

Thank you, your critique is to the point and I agree. But this piece of work is only made to show what is possible in a short period of time with a technique i've never used before. That process is only for me to understand the aesthetics of the art style and as research method of the limitations. So I took more time to make the face recognizable and sketched the time consuming easy parts. This is a study, nothing more, nothing less.

That's good to hear, but the point of asking you to do this was so that I could get a feel for how long it would take to get something that displays your full abilities, and what exactly those are. That being said, I think that this work, especially given the small amount of time, is very solid. It would be great to see something like this when you have the aesthetics and the technique down. It's not like we have a deadline for Fyslexic Ducks sign up But yeah, for a study it looks pretty awesome. Also, do you have a skype account?

i think what makes the picture look a bit weird it the round bottom part because in most AA sprites the bottom is just cut off

Hello, I'm a student at Technical University of Munich in Informatics Games Engineering and I'd like to help programming the game. Java was my first programming languge so its the best I know, but i also have abilities in C++ and C programming, well there's no great difference in java and c++... I also learned how to write assembler code to make your game more performant... I'm a big fan of the phoenix wright series and of vga so I'd like to participate. I'm working right now on DirectX 11 programming to make my own game some time.. I'm running a bi short on time right now, but I'd like to use my spare time programming a game =)

Awesome! That's great because I really had some awesome ideas for this game that I wasn't exactly sure how to do and can't exactly do all by myself (and besides, I still have to write.) Just give me your Skype name and we can talk more about the programming. Also, I don't know how this language coincides with the others that you have studied, but I have been using a program called PWLib for the programming so far. It's a Phoenix Wright case creator that is heavily based on programming. This is the website it comes from: www.ksatechnologyhq.com:1357/mainsite/pwlibI can get you all of the files that I have so far later on. Also, here's the tutorial that they have: www.ksatechnologyhq.com:1357/pwlib/PWLib_in_a_Nutshell.pdfI'd like to know if using this program would be good for the game, or if maybe we should use something else (Like C++, etc. ) Thank you very much for your time. ^^ I'm sure you'll be a great addition to the team.

That's cool, because i really wanted to do some game programming and never had the knowledge to do a good 3d graphics game... that's what they are trying to teach us at university My skype name is NaraVII, but I will not be online so many times. I'm German and I'm better at writing in English than talking in English. This program looks cool, but it depends on what features you want to include ingame.. The basic features are given in this program, but I don't knowhow it is with extra features.. it would be great to know what features should be included... Maybe pwlib can be combined with c++ code for the extra features.. for comparison: pwlib is easier to program, although AHLSL fits no language I learned so far, but it should be learnable.. actually HLSL is a programming language for 3d shaders... if we make only c++ code it will be a hard time programming the basic features, but we will be able to add anything we want in this game... well I'll work myself in to pwlib if you want, I really like to help on this game

Well I don't have any specific features in mind just yet, but I think that we should stick with AHLSL for now. The language isn't hard to learn at all. just take some time reading the .pdf file I linked in the other post.
Also I'll be sending you a skype request. Welcome, man ^^
