Mr. Attorney, first edit-test of pixelart. dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33844750/Frash%20Attourney.pngI Grabbed a 3k x 2k collection of animation cells of the DS games and edited one frame. Cause after stopping and thinking for a moment, i took a peek into here and noticed that Vectors is not a possibility. (unless i would like to redo EVERYTHING )

That's looking pretty awesome! So you were thinking of doing Fraser's sprites then? (I will warn you, though. I have plenty planned.)

I just picked fraser cause i had no idea what you have maybe covered and what you haven't. As i said before i am usually not doing lowres pixel art, and the probably easiest would be to do it with vectors even if it means redoing everything...once there are vectors, you can create new animation frams by modifying similar frames. but i don't know how it will look, i have to try and see how it will handle resizing to the minuscule resolutions of the game.

thou i'd really like to know id the resolution is Set to the same as the DS/Wii games or if it would be different, cause that is what would make the difference between editing sprite pixels and redrawing them either with a new fixed resolution or in highres/as vectors so they can be scaled to the resolution needed later.
However, scaling the image would also make it very hard to hit the pixelated look, i am going to try and do one examples based on the one sprite i edited so far.
I know you want to get the original content done (evidence and such) but i would like to get this sorted out beforehand.

In case you didn't see the message on the VGA forum:
"Well we literally have nothing except a few pics of Fraser and some old Ben sprites made from Gushoe/Det.Goodman. That being said, I don’t really know anything about “vectors” or “SVG”s. Obviously I can and will look it up, but I think I’ll end up learning what all of it really means when I see it. If it is better to use vectors, then you should.
Also, the engine it’s self doesn’t define the visual design in this case, I don’t think. Mainly in the programming of the game you are calling different assets from their folders and loading them up using coding language, so I don’t think the engine has anything to do with the visual design. As for filetype, I’d say PNG. Most of the stuff I have (and most of the stuff that came with the engine) is in .PNG format.
And in regards to have we have and haven’t covered, once again we barely have anything, but the evidence would be a nice place to start. I already started talking to someone about profiles, so don’t worry about those. Also, the miniature sizes will probably need to be fixed as well, however all of the actual Ace Attorney assets would have to be stretched to fit the screen. If I knew how to code up a custom window size, I’d do it. I guess that’s another thing to look up, eh?
Finally, let’s start picking 1 forum for this discussion. It just makes things easier."
About the resolution, I'd like to see what a high res vector version of that coffee sprite looks like first. High res is fine if it's easier for you, but I thought that what you linked looked fine. Just try not to give gifs if you do end up making a character. The engine sets up the animation frame by frame. Oh, and for this don't worry about scaling it. I'll look into that.
Also, can you PM me your Skype name if you have Skype? (Unless it doesn't matter if people see it. If it doesn't then just do it here.)

I don'T have skype and tried to get something out of inkscape but the program feels very clunky. x-x
PaintTool SAI has vector lines to but it has the big drawback of only being able to export to PSD...and having no photoshop, i can't tell if the vectors will get correctly exported. Just in case somebody else wants to work with the raw files at some point, Sai is a small tool and not used by that many people.
Though...if the program uses Spritesheets, that is large filed with all the possible character animation frames on it, HD seems to be out of question in any case, so all that vectors would do is add some more work.
also, does the program use a single color for the transparency?
the gif animation was just a test to see how it would look animated...and i will have to redo the beard in the talking animation, its to obviously edited in.
and i don't have skype, only yahoo. ...yes, very web 1.0. <-<°

That's alright. Let's just use the lower res.
Use any one color that won't ever show up on the sprites/evidence. I have a program that can make it transparent. The sprite sheets that come with the PWLib engine are naturally transparent as well, so no worries.
But yeah, unless there are any other concerns, pixels should be fine.

Do you guys need Artwork too? I could draw the characters in the AA style if you'd like too. These artworks could also be compressed into sprites since that's what Capcom did with their sprites.
Please inform me, so I can work on a picture to show you

Yeah, of course! Do you have a better way to get in touch (Skype, email, etc.) that you would be comfortable pm-ing me with? We could get the details together that way.
I've been meaning to change the site, but for now it's a bit difficult to keep up a conversation unless you're checking in everyday.
